Questions
A question is one thing a buyer might ask an AI assistant, such as "best CRM for small agencies". TDC Signal asks every active question on each engine and location you track.
Write Good Questions#
Write each question the way a buyer would type it into ChatGPT. Good questions share these traits:
- They describe a need, not your brand: "best waterproof hiking boots for wide feet".
- They match what you sell, in the words your buyers use.
- They cover each product line, audience and price range you care about.
Questions that name your brand tell you how AI engines describe you. Questions that don't name it tell you whether AI engines recommend you. Track both.
Add a Question#
Owners and admins can add questions. Other members can view them.
- 1
Open Questions
Select Questions in the app sidebar, then select Add Question.
- 2
Write the question
Enter 3 to 300 characters in Question.
- 3
Organize it (optional)
Add a Topic to group related questions. Add Tags, separated with commas. A question takes up to 10 tags.
- 4
Pick a target page (optional)
Target Page is the page you want AI engines to cite for this question. Opportunities uses it to compare your page with the pages AI engines cite instead.
- 5
Save
Select Add Question. The next check collects answers for it.
TDC Signal skips a question you already track, even with different capital letters.
Add Questions in Bulk#
Select Bulk Add to paste many questions at once.
- Paste one question per line. Blank lines are ignored.
- Optionally enter a Topic for every question in the list.
- Select Add Questions.
You can add up to 200 questions at a time, each 3 to 300 characters long. TDC Signal skips questions you already track and duplicate lines, then tells you how many it skipped. The dialog also shows how many active questions your plan has left.
Find and Filter Questions#
The questions table shows each question's visibility on every engine, its overall visibility, its average position and a trend line. Use the controls above the table to narrow the list:
- Search by text.
- Filter by topic or tag.
- Filter by Active or Paused.
The date range, engine and location filters at the top of the page change the numbers in the table.
Question Details#
Select a question to open its page. It shows:
- Visibility, Share of Voice and Average Position for this question, with the change since the previous period.
- Latest Answers: the newest answer from each engine, with a link to read it in full.
- Visibility Trend for every tracked brand.
- Top Cited Domains and Top Cited Pages for this question.
- Fan-Out Searches: the web searches engines ran before answering.
Select Why You Lost to open Opportunities for this question.
Pause, Resume, Edit or Delete#
Open the menu at the end of a row to Edit, Pause, Resume or Delete a question.
- Pause stops a question from being checked and keeps its history. Paused questions don't count toward your plan limit.
- Delete removes the question with all its answers and scores. You can't undo it.
Question Limits#
Your plan sets how many active questions you can track. The counter above the table shows how many you use, such as "42 of 50 questions".
| Plan | Active questions |
|---|---|
| Free | 10 |
| Starter | 50 |
| Growth | 150 |
| Agency | 500 |
When you reach the limit, Add Question and Bulk Add turn off. To add more, pause or delete a question, or upgrade your plan.
