Improving Visibility
The screens under Improve in the app sidebar help you win more answers. Opportunities finds what you lose, Page Audit scores your pages, Fixes drafts the changes and Impact measures the result.
Every member of a workspace can use these screens, not only owners and admins.
Opportunities#
Opportunities lists the questions you lose to competitors, why they win and what to change. It uses the same date range, engine and location filters as other screens.
Why You Lost#
The Why You Lost list shows questions where fewer than 50% of answers mention you. Questions with the most competitors come first. Each row shows your visibility next to each competitor's.
Select a question to see:
- What AI Searched For: the fan-out searches engines ran for this question. ChatGPT reports them only when ChatGPT Searches and Shopping is on in Tracking settings.
- Winning Pages: pages on other sites that answers cited for this question, with how often each was cited.
- Your Best Matching Page: the target page you set for the question, the page of yours AI engines cite most, or your closest match by title and URL.
Select Generate Fix to draft a new page for the question.
AI Gap Analysis#
Select Analyze to compare the top 3 winning pages with your best matching page. The analysis takes about 30s and reads answers from the last 30 days. It returns:
- Why They Win: what the winning pages do that earns citations.
- What Your Page Is Missing: the content, facts or structure your page lacks.
- Recommendations: specific changes, each with a button to draft that fix.
Select Re-analyze after the next check to refresh the result. Gap analyses have no monthly limit.
Questions With No Matching Page#
This card lists questions whose words match no page title or URL on your site. A dedicated page gives AI engines something to cite. Select Draft a Page to start one.
Page Audit#
Page Audit scores your pages for AI readiness out of 100 and gives each one a fix list.
- 1
Pick pages
Open Page Audit and select up to 20 pages. Filter by page type to find them faster.
- 2
Run the audit
Select Audit Selected. Each page takes about 30s.
- 3
Review the result
Select a page to see Score by Category, a Fix List with the biggest score gain first, and All Checks.
Page Audit lists the pages TDC Signal found when it read your site, plus any page an answer cited. To add new pages, select Read Site Again in Tracking settings.
What the Audit Checks#
Each check passes or fails, and carries a weight. The score is the points earned out of the total weight.
| Category | Checks |
|---|---|
| Structure | One h1 heading, logical h2 and h3 sections, at least 300 words, lists or tables. |
| Clear Answers | Answers the question up front, FAQ-style questions and answers. |
| Freshness | Updated in the last 12 months, shows a current year. |
| Structured Data | Valid JSON-LD, a schema type that fits the page. |
| Crawler Access | Robots.txt allows AI crawlers, the page is indexable, snippets are allowed. |
| Product Data | Product pages only: price, availability and reviews in Product JSON-LD, and a specs table. |
The crawler check covers the crawlers of the major AI engines, such as GPTBot, PerplexityBot and Google-Extended.
Scores of 80 or more show in green, 50 to 79 in amber and below 50 in red. The score also appears as AI Readiness on the Pages screen.
Select Generate Fix next to a failed check to draft the change. Crawler checks need a change in robots.txt or your server settings instead. After you change the page, select Re-audit.
Fixes#
Fixes drafts the content that helps you win answers. TDC Signal never publishes anything. You review each draft, publish it yourself, then mark it as shipped.
Draft Kinds#
| Kind | What you get | Needs |
|---|---|---|
| New Page | A full page that answers a question you lose. | A question or a page |
| FAQ Section | Questions and short answers to add to a page. | A question or a page |
| Comparison Page | You versus your competitors for a question. | A question or a page |
| Structured Data | JSON-LD for a page or product. | A page or a product |
| llms.txt | A map of your key pages for AI assistants. | Nothing |

Create a Draft#
- 1
Start a draft
Select New Draft on the Fixes screen. You can also start one with Generate Fix on Opportunities or Page Audit.
- 2
Choose the kind and target
Pick a Kind, then a Target Question, Target Page or Target Product.
- 3
Add instructions (optional)
Use Instructions (Optional) for facts or tone, such as "Mention our free returns and the 2-year warranty."
- 4
Generate it
Select Generate Draft. The draft takes about a minute.
Drafts use your site description, key facts, competitors, recent fan-out searches and winning pages. When a fact is missing, the draft leaves a placeholder such as "[ADD: shipping time]". Fill in every placeholder before you publish.
Review, Approve and Publish#
- Open the draft. Use Edit to change it and Save to keep your changes.
- Select Approve when it's ready. Select Discard to drop it, or Reopen to bring it back.
- Select Copy or Download, then publish it on your site. The draft shows where each kind goes, such as your site root for llms.txt.
- Select Mark as Shipped, enter the date you published it, and select Save Event.
Regenerate replaces the draft, including your edits, and counts as a new draft.
Monthly Limits#
Your plan sets how many fix drafts and page audits you can run each month. Limits reset on the first day of each month, UTC.
| Plan | Fix drafts per month | Page audits per month |
|---|---|---|
| Free | 3 | 10 |
| Starter | 15 | 100 |
| Growth | 40 | 300 |
| Agency | 100 | 1,000 |
Regenerating a draft counts as a new draft. Re-auditing a page you already audited this month doesn't count again.
Impact#
Impact plots your visibility over time, with a dashed line for each change you shipped.
- Your Visibility: the share of answers that mention you each day.
- Shipped Fixes: each change with your visibility for the 14 days before it and the days since, up to 14. It shows "Too early to tell" until 3 days of data exist after the change.
Marking a draft as shipped adds it here. To record a change you made elsewhere, such as a pricing update, select Add Event. Pick Target Questions to measure only those questions, or leave it empty to measure all of them.
Any member can add an event. Owners and admins can edit or delete events.
